Writer, Film Director, Actress, Sam Vansteen is born in Lille France in 1973.


After graduating from the University of Lille and West Virginia University where she worked on a thesis about William Faulkner and Claude Simon (both Nobel Prize laureates in Literature), she joins the TV channel Canal J where she becomes a journalist, TV Host and film director. Then she works for the TV channel Equidia where she presents the news in direct live for two years.


Her first book LE MELI MELO D’ALMA and LEO is followed shortly after by ONE TRIBE,TWO TRIBES,THREE TRIBES and ONE PLANET ONLY published by the Publishing house Les Portes du monde (The Gates of the world).


As an Actress, she studies in Paris with acting coach Hélène Zidi at the Laboratoire de l’acteur, at Fabrice Merlo at the Voice of an Actor and by Kim Massee “New Actors, new Directors” studios. She also trained with Guila Braoude on technics of scenarios, and with Emilie Pfeiffer in improvisation at Le Theatre Le Bout.


She moves to SAN FRANCISCO in 2010. She is coached by Shelley Mitchell at the Actor’s Center and by the filmmaker Rob Nilsson, best known for his feature film NORTHERN LIGHTS and winner of the Camera d’Or at the Cannes film festival). She stars as the lead character in Rob Nilsson film MAELSTROM presented at the Mill Valley Film Festival in 2012. She also stars in and co-produced Rob Nilsson’s film “A Bridge to a border in 2014.  

She is part of several plays directed by French Director based in San Francisco Frederic Patto in plays by Hanoch Levin, Denise Bonal and Pal Bekes from 2013 to 2015.


Christophe Lambert asks her to collaborate on a new book called LA FILLE DE MES REVES (The girl of my dreams), published by SYROS - NATHAN PUBLISHING GROUP in 2011.


During her 5 years in San Francisco, she starts a film company with filmmaker Eric Chebassier, continues to work as an interviewer, journalist or as a film director for French Programs in France ((Thalassa France 3, Entre Ciel et Terre Arte, La Renaissance de Lara Croft W9…), she writes and directs the documentary Les Tuniques Rouges (The Red Serges), a documentary about the mounted police in Canada during the visit of Prince William and Kate Middleton in Canada.

She is the correspondent and host for the canadian radio show “Dessine-moi un dimanche /Draw me a Sunday morning” Radio Canada.

She also writes for French morning, a french newspaper based in the US.


In 2014, she works as a manager and transcreator for CRAFT TRANSLATION/ GOOGLE TRENDS during the Soccer World Cup.


In 2014, her second book co-written with Christophe Lambert, VIRUS 57, is published by SYROS - NATHAN PUBLISHING GROUP. It receives the award "Le Prix des Mordus du polar de la ville de Paris” in April 2016.


She is also the writer of VIVRE LES USA published by HIKARI in may 2014.


Upon her return to PARIS in late 2015, she works with different productions companies as an Author, Host, and Film Director.

Her book PORTRAITS OF SAN FRANCISCO is published by HIKARI in 2016.

She co-writes HIDDEN AGENDA with Christophe Lambert, a bilingual novel (french-english) published by SYROS in their successful collection TIP TONGUE - NATHAN PUBLISHING GROUP.

She writes and directs LES CHEVAUX DU VOLCAN filmed on the island of JEJU in South Korea, produced by POINT DU JOUR and aired in September 2016 on the International Horse racing channel EQUIDIA.


In 2016, she works as a manager and transcreator for CRAFT TRANSLATION during the GOOGLE TRENDS JO event.


In November 2016, she opens her new company as an Editorial Consultant and work with french companies as well as american companies as she is bilingual.


Since she started her new companies she has been working for SAINT-GOBAIN as an editorial consultant for its new website - texts, management and voice over. For ITCE (Caisse d'Epargne) as an editor in chief during their Convention, for AMAZON STORIES as a writer and a film director, for MILAN Publisher - BAYARD PUBLISHER GROUP as the main reader in Paris for both english and french submitted books...

She has co-written a play in english with Raquel Bitton.


She has been on stage with her One Woman Show SAM VANSTEEN EST SO FRENCH for two years.

She wrote and is rehearsing her next show : Dans les Yeux de Zelda / In the Eyes of Zelda which is inspired by the life of Zelda Fitzgerald and will Premiere the 10th of January 2020, under the directions of Frederic Patto.

She is writing her next Young Adult novel : Je suis venue te dire... / I came to tell you...
